World failed on two-state solution in Middle East, says top EU envoy

Beijing [China], October 15: EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell says the world has failed in efforts to establish a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians.
"The world has been failing miserably," Borrell said in Beijing on Saturday, pointing out that there has been no success on a two-state solution in 30 years.
He also acknowledged that while two separate states are a desirable goal for Israelis and Palestinians in the future, it will not solve the current conflict unleashed last weekend. Borrell spoke in the Chinese capital with Foreign Minister Wang Yi about international security issues. "Right now we are witnessing a grave humanitarian situation in Gaza," Borrell said. (DPA)
