NASA officially joined the search for UFOs

Washington [US], September 15: The US Aeronautics and Space Administration appointed the head of a program to learn about unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
AFP on September 15 reported that the US Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA ) officially joined the search for unidentified flying objects ( UFOs ), appointing Mr. Mark McInerney as head of this program.
Holding government positions since 1996, Mr. McInerney served as NASA's liaison to the Pentagon on UFO issues , later referred to by NASA as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
"At NASA, our DNA is to explore and ask why things are the way they are," said NASA head Bill Nelson.
An independent group of 16 researchers concluded in the report that the search for UAP "requires a rigorous, evidence-based approach."
NASA is well positioned to play a prominent role thanks to its satellite capabilities and other technical assets. However, NASA emphasized that any discovery that might have an extraterrestrial origin "must be the final hypothesis - an answer we only come up with after ruling out all other possibilities".
"We want to move the conversation about UAP from sensationalism to science," Nelson said.
However, even as NASA has long been exploring the skies, the hunt for the origin, identity and purpose of the growing number of unexplained flying objects on earth is facing unprecedented challenges.
Military and civilian pilots continuously made countless reports of strange sightings. But decades of science fiction movies and books about aliens have made the whole subject laughable.
The US government has begun to take UAP issues more seriously in recent years, partly due to concerns about foreign spying capabilities.
An example of a still unexplained phenomenon is a flying metal sphere detected by an MQ-9 drone at an undisclosed location in the Middle East. Footage of the UAP was shown to the US Congress in April.
NASA 's work will be separate from the Pentagon's parallel investigation, although the two are coordinating on how to apply scientific tools and methods.
